EXOTIC VETERINARY SERVICES

Veterinary services tailored to the needs of your exotic pets

Routine Health checks
{alt}

Dr Karli Du Preez and her team at Exotic Vet Century City Cape Town offers patients and their owner’s access to routine medical care including wellness checks, sick patient care, surgical treatment, and emergency care. Our focus is to provide quality, well-rounded care for your exotic pet while offering a professional service. We recommend annual wellness exams to ensure that your exotic companion remains in good health. Having check-ups with your veterinarian can catch early signs of disease and illness.

Wellness & Preventative Care

During the initial wellness visit, our vet will thoroughly review your pet’s housing, nutrition, and care. A complete and thorough physical exam will be performed. Health screening tests and vaccines will be discussed and recommended when indicated.

Our vet will discuss any husbandry, health, or behavior concerns with you and answer any questions you might have. Recommendations will be tailored to the needs of your pet and their family.

Grooming
{alt}

At Exotic Vet Century City we have two options for your feathered friends coming for their avian routine ( clipping of wings, trimming of nails ,filing of the beak , vitamin injection and mite treatment )

Qualified vet does the avian routine with gas sedation and a general health check.

We also offer small mammal grooming.

Micro Chipping
{alt}

A microchip is a small electronic device about the size of a grain of rice. The microchip is inserted into your pet via an injection. Once inserted, you cannot feel the microchip and the special capsule around it means that it is designed to last your pet’s lifetime. The microchip is coded with a unique number that can be read by any scanner (at any veterinary clinic ). We provide you with this unique number and you as the owner register your details online. PLEASE NOTE: Parrots are sedated during this procedure to reduce stress.

Medical Boarding

We understand that it can be stressful to leave your pet when you go out of town if they are ill, need medication administration or when they are recovering from a procedure or surgery. At Exotic Vet Century City, we want to put your mind at ease and give your pets the vacation they deserve!

Your pet will be supervised by our expert veterinarians and nurses, who will administer medications and watch over them closely. Any required medications will be administered to your pet on the same schedule they are used to at home.

Pharmacy And Medication
{alt}

Exotic Vet Century Citu stock a comprehensive veterinary pharmacy so we can provide our patients with the appropriate medication for your pet. We can also have medications compounded into flavored liquid, chewable tablets, or transdermal gels if needed.

We practice high-quality medicine that focuses on your whole exotic specific areas include dermatology, cardiology, endocrinology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and oncology.

Laboratory Services
{alt}

Exotic Vet Century City has the capability to perform various blood tests, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, and other types of testing on site instead of sending samples to an outside lab.

This saves time, money, and most importantly, you don’t have to wait overnight for results—meaning your pet gets a diagnosis and needed treatment sooner.

While we do offer an extensive range of on-site testing, it is possible that your pet may need laboratory work beyond our scope. For those cases, we are happy to send blood work or other testing to an outside lab that will send results back to us.

Radiographs and Diagnostic Imaging
{alt}

Exotic Vet Century City specializes in radiology and diagnostic imaging on the premises for the convenience of patients and swift treatment.

Veterinary diagnostic imaging is used to discover internal disease or injury. We employ advanced imaging technologies guaranteeing the highest quality of care for our patients.

Radiographs, or X-rays, use electromagnetic radiation directed towards the body to highlight objects within. They can detect abnormalities including skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage, foreign bodies and dental disease.

Anesthesia

The Anesthesiology Servicer is dedicated to providing superior clinical service to our patients and referring veterinarians.

The Anesthesiology Service manages most of the patients that are anesthetized at the practice and provides dedicated attention to each patient before, during and after anesthesia.

Our team have all completed advanced training in veterinary anesthesiology and supervise the care of the patient.

Emergency Assistance and Hospital
{alt}

Our primary goal is to always provide the very best care for our patients. While we make every effort to accommodate same-day urgent care visits and emergencies in our specialised veterinarian hospital during business hours , we are however not a 24h veterinary practice.

If you have an emergency after hours we suggest you contact the nearest 24h veterinary clinic.

Cremation
{alt}

Exotic Vet Century City can provide third party cremation services for your pet. You may choose a single cremation or a ROA (return of ashes) cremation for your pet. A single cremation means the ashes will not be returned to families. A ROA cremation means that your individual pet’s ashes will be returned to the practice for the owner's collection.

There are various return of ashes options to choose from.

Our cremation services are performed by Flaura Pets. Pets are collected at the practice and their remains are returned to us within two weeks to three weeks.
